Healing Food

Did you know that many of the foods you eat have healing properties? Beet root is a liver nourishing food, high in vitamins and contains glutathione (good for liver detox) and magnesium (for relaxing and nervous disorders). Ginger is anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea and stimulates blood circulation. Grapes are great for their reservatrol content – a potent antioxidant and can be cleansing to the blood (Caution: because of high amount of pesticide sprays, grapes may not be helpful unless organically grown). Coconut is anti-fungal and can help lower cholesterol. Tomatoes are high in lycopene, which is an important nutrient in prostate health (Caution, some people may be aggravated by tomatoes, especially in acidic conditions like arthritis). Garlic helps lower blood pressure, is antiseptic and can be used for coughs and colds. Cinnamon is great to help with blood sugar control, and is easily added to your oats in the morning! Lemons are high in vitamin C and if you have half a lemon in warm water on an empty stomach in the mornings, this can help detoxify your liver (caution with gallstones!). There are many more healing foods – check with your health care provider for your specific needs.
