I design baby and children`s clothing and accessories for my company, Fournier that I created as a poverty alleviation project while living in Bolivia from 2000 to 2007.
After leaving Bolivia I have been traveling three times a year to design the collections and oversee production. We export to the United States and Europe and do private label for other companies in France and the United States.
I studied graphic design and followed fashion design in Milano, Italy.
My mission is to provide fine handwork jobs for women in Bolivia, to create luxury knits, and to raise funds for various causes and charities in Bolivia. A percentage of all our sales goes to give medical services, pre and post natal attention to knitters and educations supplies to their children.
Fournier is characterized by maintaining the “hand-made” approach for 75% of all lines manufactured. Instead of machine knitting, it relies on the crafty hands of indigenous Bolivian women who carefully hand knit all pieces in two collections a year. All alpaca and cotton yarns used in manufacturing are considered organic and come from alpaca herds in Bolivia and Peru that graze on natural, chemical free pastures along the Andes Mountains.
Our fabrics ara all natural materials as cotton, silk and linen. We provide a steady income for a various communities in Bolivia, providing work to people who formerly did not have one.
