Art and Environment, Global Warming Initiative (GWI Artistes Network)
GWInitiative focuses on art as a reflection of human activities. It works in collaboration of all organisations who wants to use the medium of performing arts as a tool to educate communities on the preservation of the environment.
Tree Planting Project
GWI helps to empower people so that they become active agents of sustainable and equitable development. GWInitiave workshops promote an understanding that communities are pivotal for changing attitudes towards environment issues and advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and people enjoy a safer and more prosperous future. Care for the earth.
By involving local artists in our workshops, GWI wants them to become ‘Agent of Change’. Artistes can spread information about global warming issues through their performing art and reach the entire population.
Long Term Dreams
Bringing all our different networks (artists, environmentalists, media) together and use our rich diversity to bring environment issues to the people (youth and elders) and vice versa. Consequently, GWInitiave involves the following activities:
- Creating performances platform for events like Kipawa Sato, festivals and road shows to inform the society about the role of arts in the community.
- We offer Dance, Music and Narrative workshops with our experimented artists to help upcoming artists to improve in their art.
- Tree planting and clean up exercises, incorporating general community outreach programmes.
GWInitiative programmes enable the youths and the general public to know more about the environment with artistic messages. These messages are less judgemental and so widely accepted by the youth. To the older audience, pro activeness by the youth on world social issues creates a good rapport with them.
Environment is vital and all our performances are an experince to be cherished by all.
