| Pranayama | Breathing properly in order to balance energy |
| Pratyahara | Exploring and withdrawal from the senses in order to gain mastery over external influences |
| Dharana | Developing and maintaining proper concentration |
| Dhyana | Resting in effortless meditation |
| Samadhi | Union with the universal self, the highest state of meditation |
