Asana (Postures)
Postures keep the body healthy by removing muscular tension and massage the internal organs, improving their functions and giving greater flexibility to the spine, muscles and joints. It keeps the body light and spacious that after practicing asana, one feels so energized that it allows the body to become attuned with the mind and the heart. It allows one to listen to their body and respect the body.
Breathing practices (Pranayama)
Pranayama helps to release physical, mental and emotional tensions, calm the mind and help restore the body’s natural balance. There are various pranayama practices. All help the flow of energy though manipulation of the breath and through regular practice, pranayama helps to open dormant centers of the brain to bring higher sense of creativity. It helps to improve memory, sound sleep and a calmer sense of self.
Relaxation
Relaxation is also an important part of yoga. It is during this time that the body has the chance to heal and recover and all the benefits of asana and pranayama is best absorbed during the practice of relaxation. It allows one to relax consciously, releasing all aches and pains and tension both on the physical and mental level.
Meditation
Meditation is a practice of being silent, still and being mindful of whatever that is going on in the body and in the mind. It is a process of coming home to the body, back to the spirit. Meditation has the power to heal, to calm and to bring about clarity in ones life. It allows a practitioner to feel self-love and universal love. Once meditation has become a part of your life, you will feel the difference in the way you deal with the various issues in your life. The sense of freedom, expansion and unity arise naturally and a practitioner radiates warmth, love and liberation.
